4 Days to go until publication! – Sarah E Boon

If you have been following me on social media, then you would have been well aware that I have been posting about the publication of my first book ‘Young, Autistic and ADHD: Moving into adulthood when you’re multiply-neurodivergent’ A LOT. However, it not every day you have a book published and I am just so excited (but also slightly nervous).

I want to make sure that all who might be interested reading the book can hear about it, so please spread the word to any young autistic ADHDers (or AuDHDers) who may be interested. I wrote this book with the insights I have now, that my younger AuDHDer self needed to know, but didn’t yet. Although I did not know I was autistic and an ADHDer back then, a lot of what I have written is relevant for both autistic ADHDers who are just starting to learn about their neurodivergence (including neurolerkers) and for those of us who have known for some time.

“Young, Autistic and ADHD is an extremely assuring and neurodiversity-affirming guide that many of us would have benefitted from as teenagers. Sarah Boon confidently talks us through the complicated nature of adolescence and the very underdiscussed ways it combines with being multiply neurodivergent.”

Charli Clement, autistic-ADHD activist & author of All Tangled Up in Autism & Chronic Illness

Some copies made it into the wild early!

Although it is still a few more days to go until publication, I was very surprised when people were sending me pictures of copies they pre-ordered earlier this week. In turns out some of the people distributing the books seem to be a little too good at their jobs. So thank you to those people! As I started to receive these messages, one book shop (not too far away from me) was showing it as in stock on their website 8 days early. I didn’t think this was possible, so even despite how much I try to avoid making phone calls, I felt compelled to ring, to see if it was true, and not an error on their website. Turns out it was actually in stock!

I was on a team away day at work, which was a short walk away from the book shop, so I snuck away during our lunch break to see my book for the first time for sale. It is a truly magical moment as an author and my heart was racing. As I wanted to make sure people would not miss the book when walking passed the shelves, I may have done some slight rearranging too….

You can see my antics in the book shop below!

“Both affirming and educational, ‘Young, Autistic and ADHD’ offers a deep dive into what it means to be both autistic and ADHD, delivered with compassion and clarity”

Emily Katy, author of Girl Unmasked.

Upcoming events to mark in your calendar

Along with the publication of the book, there are some exciting events coming up that you can get involved with to celebrate the publication. First is the book launch on the 26th July at 7pm – UK time. In a few weeks, I will also be giving a webinar about the book for the Autistic Girls Network on Wednesday 7th August at 8pm – UK time ( full details will be posted shortly). Both events are online, so all you will need is an internet connection to join.

I have also been having a few conversations with podcasts about sharing the book on their platforms, so watch this space! Also if you have your own podcast or event where you would like me to speak about the book, please do get in touch

Thank you so much if you have already bought your copy, And if you haven’t then click here to get yours in paperback, ebook or audiobook (or all 3 if you wish).

If you enjoyed this post and like to support my writing, I would be forever grateful if you could buy me a coffee (or tea in my case) on Ko-fi.
