Unmedicated Hospital Birth with Albinism Diagnosis, Second Hospital Epidural Birth with Redemptive Nursing Experience

Caitlan had an uneventful first pregnancy until Covid hit when she was 6 months pregnant. Despite the unexpected global pandemic, her first birth (an accidental unmedicated hospital birth) was surprisingly quick and relatively easy despite a surprise episiotomy. An albinism diagnosis when her daughter was 12 weeks old was quite shocking and hard to process at first, but now they can’t imagine Riley any other way. Despite an unsuccessful breastfeeding journey, their postpartum was a positive experience.

Caitlan and Nick were lucky to conceive on their first attempt once they were ready to grow their family, and were elated to welcome a baby boy. Opting for an epidural birth this time, labor and delivery was a breeze and mom and baby were happy to have a successful and redemptive nursing experience the second time around.
